Great White Shark Spotted on Cape Cod Beach

Beach was closed for a brief time as a precaution

Lighthouse Beach in Chatham, Massachusetts, was closed for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon after a shark sighting.

Dan Tobin, Director of Chatham Parks and Recreation said the shark was spotted just before 1:30 p.m. According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy's Sharktivity App, the closure was prompted by a Great White Shark predation of a seal on the beach.

More than a handful of Great White Sharks have been spotted in New England waters so far this season.
