Cape Cod Town Reduces Fee for Mandated Background Fingerprint Tests

A Massachusetts town has reduced the fee for licenses holders mandated to take fingerprint background tests.

The new Falmouth bylaw approved Monday will impact second-hand dealers, peddlers and hawkers, taxi and livery drivers, managers of liquor licenses and ice cream vendors. The Cape Cod Times reports people will now be charged $60 for a fingerprint test instead of $100.

The fingerprints are forwarded to state police, the state Department of Criminal Justice Information Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Towns with similar bylaws include Barnstable, Brewster, Dennis, Harwich, Nantucket and Yarmouth.
