Car Hits Vehicle, Then Building in Swampscott, Mass.

The vehicle in question, a Toyota sedan, first struck a car holding three occupants

A car driving down Paradise Road in Swampscott, Massachusetts hit another vehicle and then continued down the street until crashing into a building on Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.

The vehicle in question, a Toyota sedan, first struck a car holding three occupants who were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Swampscott Fire said the Toyota kept going until the next intersection. At this point, Paradise Road veers left but the car's driver stayed straight. It apparently stopped only when it struck the corner of a three-story building at 70 New Ocean Street.

In the process of hitting the building, the car also took down a traffic signal light, which came to rest on its roof.

The driver of the Toyota was uninjured in both crashes and said that his car's brakes failed. He was not arrested.
