A $500 reward is being offered for information on the attacker after a cat is left struggling to recover from major injuries.
Dempsey was shot twice, hit by a car and left for dead in Mashpee, Massachusetts, last week.
Dempsey was taken to a veterinary clinic Jan. 13 after a passerby rescued him from the street.
Deborah Doe, President of the New England Society for Abandoned Animals, says Dempsey not well enough to undergo surgery, which he needs to remove two pellets from his back and knee. He's also having eye problems.
The New England Society for Abandoned Amimals is offering the reward.
