Chelsea, Mass. Fast Food Restaurant Destroyed by 2-Alarm Fire

Deteriorating conditions forced firefighters to pull back from a 2-alarm blaze at a Chelsea, Massachusetts fast food restaurant.

A Pollo Campero restaurant was deemed a total loss in the overnight fire, according to officials. The blaze was first reported just before midnight on Sunday.

Firefighters had difficulty getting through the structure’s metal doors during their initial response and were later pulled out of the blaze.

"The guys did a good job trying to find the fire, but it wasn’t worth their lives to put them at risk," Chelsea Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Wayne Ulwick said.

Ulwick said he believes the blaze started in the rear of the building.

"We had a report that it could have been in the basement, but right now we have no idea," he said. "We haven’t been in the building yet since we pulled everyone out."

No injuries were reported in the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
