A chemical fire prompted a shelter-in-place Thursday night in Middleborough, Massachusetts.

Police told residents near 137 Pine St. to close their doors and windows after the blaze broke out.

The fire caused the road to close, but police said just after 9:30 p.m. that the blaze had been extinguished. Crews were still on the scene as of 4:00 Friday morning.

Officials believe the fire started when a worker mixed some chemicals.
