College Student Dies From Bacterial Meningitis

Officials with Northeastern University in Massachusetts say a student has died following a diagnosis of bacterial meningitis.

The student has not been identified, but the Boston Globe identifies him as Ryan Shaw from Wakefield.

He had already left the campus for the conclusion of the spring semester.

Northeastern has reached out to his family and close contacts to offer medication and immunizations.

The university is working with the Boston Public Health Commission.
