Firefighters say construction workers happened to be in the right place at the right time when a man jumped over a Quincy, Massachusetts bridge and into chilly waters.
Fire officials said construction workers were working on the Fore River Bridge when they spotted a man who got out of a car and jumped into 35-degree water below.
They quickly alerted crews who were in a skiff below and were able to save the man within seconds.
After pulling the man onto their boat with their bare hands, the construction workers, who were with J.F. White Construction, called 911.
"They put their hands right in the water and grabbed the man. Just force. Pulled them right into the boat. I would say they were the true heroes of the day," said Quincy Dept. Fire Chief Tim Burchill.
The man who was pulled from the water is expected to be OK, according to Quincy fire officials.
NBC10 Boston has reached out to the construction company for comment.
