Construction Worker, 48, Dies After Lift Fall

Bristol County district attorney's office identified the man on Tuesday as 48-year-old Kevin Miranda

A worker killed when a construction lift fell at a work site in Taunton, Massachusetts, has been identified.

The Taunton Daily Gazette reports the Bristol County district attorney's office identified the man on Tuesday as 48-year-old Kevin Miranda, who lived both in Somerset, Massachusetts, and Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

Miranda was working for Taunton-based Skyline contracting and roofing to inspect a large smokestack behind the St. Mary's Catholic elementary school when the lift flipped over Monday afternoon.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

Chris Bowers, a spokesman for the equipment owner, NES Rentals, expressed condolences to Miranda's family. He said NES is cooperating with the investigation and declined to comment further.

Spokesman John Kearns said the Fall River Roman Catholic Diocese "offers its heartfelt prayers" for Miranda, his family and friends.
