8 Dogs Rescued From 3-Alarm Blaze in Uxbridge, Mass.

Eight dogs were rescued and two firefighters were hospitalized following a 3-alarm fire at an animal kennel in Uxbridge, Massachusetts.

The fire was reported at approximately 6:30 a.m. at the Aldrich Street Kennel, according to officials. Thursday's storm made it difficult for crews to douse the flames since the area was blanketed with 6-to-8-inches of snow.

In addition to the eight dogs, the kennel housed one cat. The feline was not located but officials believe it may have escaped. Two firefighters were taken to an area hospital as a precaution, authorities said. The extent of their injuries is unclear.

Uxbridge police said Aldrich Street between Johnson Road and Douglas Pike was closed to all traffic as fire crews attend to the early-morning house fire.

The structure suffered severe damage and investigators are on scene as they try to determine the cause of the fire. They do not believe it is suspicious, officials said.
