Crews Battle Brush Fire in Sandwich, Massachusetts

Fire officials say no residents are in danger

Firefighters are continuing to monitor a a brush fire in Sandwich, Massachusetts.

The fire broke out at about 11 a.m. Sunday and quickly reached 2-alarms. Most of the blaze has been knocked down.

Crews from three neighboring communities assisted.

A Massachusetts State Police helicopter was brought in to collect water from nearby Snake Pond, then to drop the water on the fire.

Fire officials say no residents are in danger because the fire is burning deep in the woods. Authorities do say they've received calls from people reporting smoke and ashes raining on their homes.

No injuries have been reported.
