Boston Fire crews say a four-alarm fire at a three-story birch building in Allston has been knocked down.

Crews responded to the fire at 79 Brighton Ave. at 6:05 Monday morning. Heavy fire was showing upon arrival.

A fourth alarm was ordered after crews arrived.

Officials say the building appears to be a vacant apartment building. Some of the windows on the first floor were boarded up.

Fire investigators are on scene to determine the cause and origin. Fire officials estimate the damage at $750,000.

Officials say the fire started on the second floor after an electrical short circuit.

No one was injured.
