A firefighter was injured battling a fire in Ayer, Massachusetts, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Ayer Fire Department said the flames broke out around 12:30 p.m. at 33 Washington St.
As of 2 p.m., fire crews were still on the scene. Aerial footage from NBC Boston's Sky Ranger helicopter showed heavy smoke pouring from the charred roof of the home.

Fire officials said the injured firefighter suffered a medical emergency while working building and not as a direct result of the fire.
He was taken to a local hospital and his condition was not immediately known.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
