Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has a new role supporting the efforts to bring the Olympics to Boston

Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has a new role supporting the efforts to bring the Olympics to Boston, according to the Boston Globe.

Patrick will be the global ambassador for Boston 2024. Specifically, he will help sell the city to the International Olympic Committee.

“I’ve been asked to help Boston 2024 in pitching Boston and the Commonwealth to the members of the IOC as a site for the Olympics,” Patrick reportedly said in a statement on Friday.

Patrick has shown support for the bid, most recently last month when he was among those who represented Boston at the United States Olympic Committee Headquarters in Colorado when the IOC president visited, according to AroundTheRings.com.

The Globe says this will be a paid position, but specific information has not been disclosed.
