Elderly Woman in Wheelchair Dies After Hit-and-Run Crash in Cambridge, Massachusetts

An elderly woman in a wheelchair who was struck in a hit-and-run crash late last month in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has died.

Authorities confirm 77-year-old Dorothy Steele of Cambridge, who was struck on Feb. 28, has died from her injuries.

Henry Park, 62, of Somerville, was apprehended and initially issued a citation. According to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office, he now faces a charge of leaving the scene of a crash causing death.

Investigators say Park hit Steele early in the morning and took off.

"Nobody deserves that. The guy should have at least pulled over," said neighbor Sandra Preston. "Helped her out and get out and do the decent thing."

Prior to the crash, neighbors say, Steele was a fixture in the community, routinely seen navigating all over the city and feeding birds.

Park will be arraigned on the charges, but a date has not yet been set. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
