Police Arrest 4th Suspect in July 2018 Roxbury Murder

Rashad Mezil, 27, of Mattapan, was arrested Saturday on the charge of murder in connection to the shooting death of 29-year-old Christian Rivera

A man has been arrested in connection with the July 2018 killing of a man in Roxbury, according to Boston police.

A Suffolk County grand jury indicted Rashad Mezil, 27, of Mattapan, on Friday for first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Christian Rivera, 29, of Dorchester.

Mezil was arrested Saturday morning in the area of 15 Faunce Road in Mattapan on an outstanding warrant out of Suffolk Superior Court on the charge of murder.

Mezil is the fourth person to be arrested in connection with Rivera's death; Ira Harrison, Adnan Tahlil, and Demetrius Bennett were all arrested last year.

Around 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, police say Rivera was shot and killed in the area of 76 Homestead Street.

Responding officers found Rivera on the sidewalk, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said at the time that police were not sure if the shooting was gang related.
