A Lowell, Massachusetts, man charged with threatening to "shoot up" his workplace after seeing his love interest arrive at a party with another man has been held on $100,000 bail.
The Sun reports that prosecutors say Alberto Ortiz Mateo left a voice mail for the woman following a May 21 birthday party in which he threatened to "shoot up everybody" at Comet Products Inc., the Chelmsford company where they both worked.
Mateo also allegedly sat next to the woman at the party, lifted his shirt and displayed a gun tucked into his waistband.
He faces a charge of threat to bomb/hijack.
Defense attorney Joanne Daley says the rumors about her client "have spun out of control" and the alleged voice mail no longer exists.
