Interstate 495 southbound at Exit 20 in MIlford, Massachusetts, was temporarily shut down on Monday night due to a jackknifed tractor trailer.
A short time afterward, Massachusetts State Police were able to clear the highway, and all lanes reopened.
Massachusetts State Police Trooper Matthew Guarino said the conditions are particularly bad south and southeast of Boston. "It's pretty tough."
He said in addition to the tractor trailer crash on I-495, there have been a number of spinouts on Route 24.
"We're really encouraging everyone to stay home unless they have to be out," Guarino said.
