Police in Methuen, Massachusetts, arrested a man in connection to a string of at least five car breaks Tuesday, chief Joseph Solomon confirms.
Officers responded to Tudor Street at 3:35 a.m. after reports of two men with flashlights looking inside cars parked in the neighborhood.
After receiving a description of the suspects, officers located the men hiding behind some bushes in the area. One man fled, but the officers were able to detain the second suspect.
A perimeter was set up in the neighborhood, but the man who fled could not be found.
In speaking with local residents, officers determined at least five cars were broken into.
Javier Richards, 32, was arrested and charged with five counts of breaking into a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools and larceny of property over $250.
Richards was transported to the Methuen Police Department pending arraignment in Lawrence District Court.
