Bail Set at $20,000 for Man Charged in Road Rage Assault

Alexander Nguyen is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Stoughton District Court

A Sharon, Massachusetts, man who according to police pummeled another driver during a road rage incident in town while the victim's children looked on faced a judge Monday.

Alexander Nguyen, 21, was arraigned in Stoughton District Court on charges including assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and making threats to kill.

The confrontation occurred June 12.

Police say Nguyen beeped his horn at the victim, then pulled up beside him and shouted obscenities. They say the 21-year-old Nguyen got out of his car, assaulted the victim, causing facial lacerations, and threatened to kill him. The victim's children were in the back seat the whole time.

Nguyen turned himself in on Saturday and was held over the weekend pending arraignment.

His lawyer David Jellinek asked that bail be set at $15,000; however, the judge sided with prosecutors, who asked for $20,000.

Nguyen's next court date is July 22 for a pre-trial hearing.
