A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a woman in her Taunton, Massachusetts, home.
Vannessa Courtney's fiance found her dead in their apartment when she came home from work Monday. Authorities say she was stabbed or slashed in the throat.
Friday, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced that 22-year-old James Souza of Fall River had been arrested in connection to the case.
Souza is charged with murder and armed robbery.
"I just want her back," said Courtney's fiance, Nikki Clarke. "This wasn't supposed to happen, this was never supposed to happen."
According to officials, Souza and Courtney were known to each other.
Souza will be arraigned Monday at Taunton District Court. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
