Man Convicted of Stabbing Ex-Girlfriend to Death

A man has been conviceted of murdering his ex-girlfriend back in 2011 in Marshfield, Massachusetts.

Marcelo Almeida, 45, will face a life sentence for killing 24-year-old Patricia Fernanda Teixera Frois.

Almeida stabbed Frois 11 times in the head, neck and torso on the morning Sept. 26, 2011. She was taken to South Shore Hospital and pronounced dead.

Investigators found Almeida, who fled the scene, in a shed later that day. He was hospitalized with self-inflicted injuries and arraigned at South Shore Hospital.

The trial against Almeida began four years to the day after the murder. Frois' mother came from Brazil to attend with other family members and friends.

The first-degree murder charge of which Almeida was found guilty carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.
