Authorities say a man involved in a head-on collision in Northampton, Massachusetts, died after going into cardiac arrest.
A Northampton Fire Department spokesman tells The Daily Hampshire Gazette the victim's Mercedes Benz sedan collided with a pickup truck on Route 5 at about 10:20 a.m. Sunday. The woman told responders she tried to avoid the man's car when he swerved into oncoming traffic, but was unable to avoid the collision.
EMTs found the man in the midst of cardiac arrest and attempted to revive him at the scene.
Both the woman and the man were taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital. The woman suffered serious injuries.
No names were released.
