A Worcester, Massachusetts, man is now facing a vehicular homicide charge in connection with a fatal all-terrain vehicle crash last month.
Police announced the new charge against 24-year-old Luis Pena on Wednesday.
Authorities say he was operating the ATV recklessly on Aug. 19 when he lost control and it rolled over several times, severely injuring his passenger, 24-year-old Paola Alba. She died at the hospital about two weeks later.
Pena also suffered a minor arm injury.
He had previously been charged with offenses including operating to endanger and speeding.
Authorities say Pena's ATV was among a group of ATVs and dirt bikes doing wheelies and swerving on a road when it went out of control and flipped.
