Man Threatens Driver with Hatchet During Road Rage Incident

A Massachusetts man is facing charges after he allegedly waved a hatchet at another motorist during a road rage incident on Tuesday morning.

Brian Art, 34, of Dighton, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday in Taunton District Court.

Around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Rehoboth Police said they received a report of a road rage incident on Anawan Street (Route 118).

The victim told police that  Art was driving erratically behind him on Anawan Street and eventually passed him near the intersection of Anawan and Peck streets. The vehicle continued in front of him until it came to a stop at the intersection of Anawan and Tremont streets.

Art then exited his vehicle and approached the victim's car, yelling at him and waving a hatchet in the air in a threatening manner. The victim said he rolled up his window and locked his car doors, fearing for his safety.

Art then left the area, continuing north on Anawan Street. He was arrested around 9:50 a.m. while driving on Anawan Street.
