Martha Coakley, Charlie Baker Postpone Massachusetts Governor Campaigns

The postponements follow the death of former Boston Mayor Tom Menino

Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Charlie Baker are postponing their public campaign events for the day following the death of former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.

Baker had events scheduled in Attleboro, Boston, Taunton and Westport. Coakley had planned to meet with fishermen in Gloucester.

Coakley and Baker have been locked in a tight race for Massachusetts governor.

Menino died Thursday morning at age 71. He was diagnosed with advanced cancer in February.

Coakley issued a statement Thursday calling Menino "a friend and mentor, and a shining example to me and countless others of what it means to love and serve your community."

The election is Nov. 4.

In the above video, lawmakers past and present share their memories of Menino and his legacy.
