Mass. Gov. Ad Campaign Escalating

The ad campaign in the Mass. Gov. race is escalating after the primary victories of Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Charlie Baker

The ad campaign in the Massachusetts governor's race is escalating following the primary victories of Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Charlie Baker.

A new 30-second television spot by a super PAC opposed to Baker paints him as a former health care CEO more interested in his own salary than keeping down premium costs.

The Democratic Governors Association and several unions - including the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Service Employees International Union - are among the PAC's top donors.

Baker also launched his first general election ad Wednesday.

The 30-second television spot shows Baker talking with his daughter Caroline.

Baker says he created jobs as part of the Weld administration and helped Harvard Pilgrim Health Care avoid bankruptcy as CEO. As governor, Baker says he would lower taxes, cut spending and require work for welfare.
