A 40-year-old man has been ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty in the fatal shooting of a woman found dead in a running SUV this week.
Pedro Vasquez was arraigned Tuesday on charges including murder. He is accused of killing 30-year-old Yahaira Hernandez of Springfield, Massachusetts, in what police say was a domestic violence incident. Few details have been released.
Hernandez was found in Monday morning in a car parked near an elementary school in the Forest Park neighborhood. Students were returning just hours later from the holidays, but authorities said they weren't in danger.
Vasquez was arrested Monday evening at a house in Springfield's North End.
He returns to court Feb. 4.
