MBTA, MassDOT Considering Fines for Amtrak After Delays

This comes after MBTA officials said they were not notified about the maintenance work being done Sunday

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the MBTA say they’re looking into fines for Amtrak after service disruptions Sunday.

MassDOt confirms they are considering fines for future service disruptions.

This comes after MBTA officials said they were not notified about the maintenance work being done Sunday.

The MBTA says that work led to an Amtrak signal failure that delayed or canceled dozens of commuter rail trains.

The same signal system sparked a massive re-routing of commuters, for a full day two months ago.

The MBTA is currently in the middle of contract negotiations with Amtrak.
