Museum Unveils Rare Winslow Homer Painting

The painting had been kept away for 136 years

An art museum in Williamstown, Massachusetts, is displaying a one-of-a-kind gift.

The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute was given a Winslow Homer painting that has never been shown to the public before.

The gift was from the granddaughter of a 9-year-old boy, named Charles Prentice Howland, who is shown in the painting.

The painting had been with the family since it was painted 136 years ago.

Homer was friends with Charles' father and uncle.

Folks can see the painting on display starting Dec. 12.
