New Market Basket Store Set to Open After Delay From Drama

The store at Northgate Mall in Revere, Massachusetts, was built before the extensive standoff between Arthur T. Demoulas and Arthur S. Demoulas; it will now open its doors Oct. 26.

After months of drama delayed the store's opening, residents of Revere, Massachusetts, will finally be able to shop at a brand new Market Basket at Northgate Mall.

Mayor Dan Rizzo announced Tuesday that the store will officially open on Sunday, Oct. 26. A ceremonial ribbon will be cut the following Thursday, Oct. 30.

After the store was built, months of employee protests and customer boycotts spurned by the ousting of CEO Arthur T. Demoulas delayed its opening.

The board that fired him, controlled by cousin Arthur S. Demoulas, sold the remaining shares to Artie T. in August.

"It has been a long, hard road to get our own Revere Market Basket open for our residents, but I'm sure it will all be worth the wait," said Rizzo in a statement.
