Officials Disentangle Whale on Stellwagen Bank

The 60 foot fin whale became stuck on Wednesday

Members of the Marine Animal Entanglement Response team from the Center for Coastal Studies disentangled a large fin whale on Stellwagen Bank in Boston on Wednesday.

According to the center, the 60 foot fin whale was reported by a tuna spotter pilot on the bank.

The whale was swimming with the entanglement of fishing rope and buoyslodged in its mouth.

The team was able to remove most of the rope, leaving just a small amount through the whale's mouth, which should remove itself naturally over time.
