Officials Investigate String of Suspected Arson Fires in Taunton, Mass.

Police are investigating a series of suspected arson fires that happened within the span of just two hours overnight in Taunton, Massachusetts.

Four fires were sparked along Weir Street and and a fifth fire broke out on Leonard Court. The first blaze that was reported at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday as a truck fire in the area of 69 Weir St., according to the Taunton Fire Department.

The flames were on a few back porches and even at a bakery, fire officials said. Authorities are hoping to retrieve surveillance footage from nearby businesses to assist in their investigation.

One person was taken into custody for questioning then later released. Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office have responded to the scene and the incident remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
