Man Injured in Overnight Shooting in Worcester

Police are investigating after a 23-year-old man was injured in a shooting incident in a residential Worcester neighborhood on Monday night.

Worcester police found the man on Outlook Drive after responding to reports of shots fired at around 9:20 p.m. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The incident happened near the intersection of Outlook Drive and Swan Avenue, where caution tape could be seen blocking off access to what appeared to be an apartment.

A witness told NBC10 Boston and necn that she, her father and his girlfriend heard the gunshots and saw a bleeding man running toward them from a parking lot below.

"We used one of my dad's shirts to tie it on his arms and keep pressure," said Amy Bourassa."

The shooting stunned neighbors, who said the incident was unexpected.

"When I heard somebody got shot in Washington Heights I was kind of shocked and surprised because, you know, a lot of kids live here," neighbor Janet Kusi said. "We all play around in the parking lot."

Details on what led up to the shooting were not immediately clear.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 508-799-8651.
