Pittsfield Bank Robber Gets Up to Five Years in Prison

A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to up to five years in prison for robbing a Pittsfield bank in September.

The Berkshire district attorney says 36-year-old Christopher Rock, of Lee, waived his right to have his case presented to a grand jury and opted to proceed directly to arraignment and a guilty plea.

Prosecutors say Rock went into a Berkshire Bank branch with a shopping bag, showed the teller a note and demanded cash in $50 and $20 denominations. He made off with about $2,000.

A police dog tracked him to a nearby park where the note and some of the clothes he wore during the robbery were found in the trash. The dog lost the scent, but tipped off by a cab driver, police arrested Rock at his home.
