Cause of Pittsfield, Mass. Couple's Deaths Released

Authorities say a woman found dead in her Pittsfield, Massachusetts, home earlier this week died of blunt force trauma to the head while her husband died of asphyxiation and loss of blood from multiple apparently self-inflicted superficial wounds.

The Berkshire district attorney released results of autopsies on 53-year-old John Kordana and 39-year-old Celeste Kordana on Wednesday, but said the investigation into the deaths is ongoing. Authorities previously said no third party was involved.

The Kordanas were found in their home Monday afternoon by police making a well-being check. Members of the Pittsfield Fire Department had to force entry into the home first.

Several neighbors told The Berkshire Eagle that they had not noticed anything out of the ordinary at the home lately.
