Boston Police have arrested a suspect after a pursuit on foot in the city's Roxbury neighborhood.
On Friday, two individuals noticed officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force parked in an unmarked cruiser. The individuals stopped abruptly and reversed direction before returning to the area. One of the officers tried to engage in casual conversation with one of the individuals, but he took off running.
During a pursuit, an officer noticed the suspect was concealing a weapon. The suspect was ultimately arrested in the area of 115 Homestead Street. No weapon was immediately found, but a loaded illegal firearm that belonged to the suspect was tracked down with help from a Boston Police K9.
Officers arrested Daquane Mitchell, 24, of Roxbury and charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm subsequent offense, and trespassing.
