Police Investigating a Church Theft in Mass.

Approximately $1,300 was stolen during a break-in on Sunday evening at the rectory of the St. Anthony of Padua Church in the North End of New Beford, Massachusetts.

The New Bedford Standard Times report that New Beford Police responded to a call regarding an open window at the rectory at about 6:30 p.m. 

Father Octavio Cortez from the church confirmed the that money was missing from the rectory.  He says he went to the rectory Saturday evening to get some personal cash he had left behind when he noticed the missing funds.

Although the cash was missing, nothing had been broken. 

According to the Police Chief Joseph C. Cordeiro, no arrests have been made and detectives are investigating.
