Police Investigating Fight at South Shore Plaza; Reports of Shots Fired

Police are investigating a fight between three men that occurred at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Massachusetts.

Authorities on duty at the shopping mall were called to one of the stores around 6 p.m. Sunday after two men began fighting inside. The two men were then joined by a third man, all described as being in their late teens and early 20s.

There was a major disturbance in the store, as clothing was knocked off shelves, and one person was struck with a computer keyboard.

A foot chase ensued between the men who fled the mall, and ran across Granite St. to South Shore Pl., where a second fight broke out.

During the course of the chase, police received a report of one or more gunshots. A search of the area thus far has failed to turn up any shell casings.

An individual who police believe to be the victim of the assault was later located in one of the South Shore Plaza parking lots, and transported to South Shore Hospital with injuries consistent with a fist fight.

A second individual involved in the fight, and believed to be the aggressor, was located on Adams St. in Milton. He was transported to a Boston hospital with unknown injuries, not believed to be related to gunshots.

Shortly after 8 p.m., a handgun, believed to have been discarded by the individual located in Milton, was located by a Randolph K-9 team in a small wooded area along Granite St.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is active and ongoing.
