A woman has confessed Thursday morning to killing her boyfriend Wednesday night in Leominster, Massachusetts, officials said.
Stephanie Cruz, 28, called 911 around 10:30 a.m. to tell police that she had stabbed 37-year-old Cedric Taylor around 8 p.m. at her fourth-floor apartment on Water Street.
Officers arrived and found Taylor dead with a stab wound in his stomach. Dried blood was found throughout the apartment.
"The body displayed a massive trauma to his torso area," said prosecutors.
Until Wednesday, Taylor was being held at the Worcester County House of Correction after being charged with domestic assault and battery on Cruz. He had been awaiting trial, but the Worcester County District Attorney's Office says Cruz did not appear in court.
What happened after the victim was released is still unclear.
"Neighbors reported hearing fighting in the apartment last night but did not call police, as they've heard similar noises similar types of fighting in that apartment in the past," said Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.

Early says that a knife potentially used in the killing was found in the kitchen sink.
Cruz and Taylor have a child together, who is in the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. Cruz's other two children are staying with their father.
A nearby bar owner says it's a shock.
"I've seen that woman walk by, but I don't know her, and she doesn't come into the bar," said Aime Lemoine of A&R's Double Inn.
