A man was attacked by a pit bull after opening the top of its cage to clean it, with his blood splattering all over his home in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Police say the 58-year-old man was found after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday covered in bite wounds, his blood on the walls, floor and furniture, at his Charles Street home.
The man, police say, had opened Rex's cage in the bathroom to clean. The dog jumped out and attacked the man.
The dog's owner, a woman who also lived in the home, says she had to struggle to pry Rex off of the man.
He was transported to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River before being taken to Rhode Island Hospital. As of Friday afternoon, he is in stable condition.
Rex is in the custody of Fall River Animal Control, which will investigate the case.
