The report of a gunman at a Massachusetts hotel was a hoax, police confirm.
Necn affiliate WWLP says police received a report of a man holding his nieces hostage at a Days Inn hotel in Greenfield on Wednesday morning.
Greenfield police say numerous police officers from multiple agencies arrived at the scene, and that the entire hotel had to be evacuated because the caller told police to leave the lobby or it would be blown up.
Police also say the caller, who sounded male, asked to speak to a hostage negotiator and hung up each time.
Nothing was found after the hotel was evacuated.
Greenfield police and state police are still investigating the incident.
