Police Searching for Vehicle in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police in Seekonk, Massachusetts, are searching for the motorist involved in a fatal hit-and-run.

Police have identified the 51-year-old woman who died after she was hit by a car in the southeast Massachusetts town of Seekonk as the assistant town clerk.

Seekonk police say Saturday that Karen McHugh had held the position for several years.

They say they are continuing to look for the motorist who struck McHugh late Friday night by the side of a road, then fled the scene heading south on Arcade Avenue toward Taunton Avenue.

McHugh was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she later died.

Police say that based on debris at the scene, they believe the vehicle was dark gray and may have been a General Motors vehicle. They say it likely has front-end damage and may have passenger-side damage, including to the side-view mirror.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Seekonk Police Department at 508-336-8123.
