Racism Allegations at Nation's Oldest Public School

A video posted online by two Boston Latin students Monday complained of rampant use of racial slurs by classmates

Boston school officials are investigating accusations of racism at the nation's oldest public school in the wake of a video released by students on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

A video posted online by two Boston Latin students Monday complained of rampant use of racial slurs by classmates and a divisive culture at the middle/high school founded in 1635.

The teens, members of an organization called Black Leaders Aspiring for Change and Knowledge, say administrators do not discipline students for racist behavior.

School officials say mandatory training on how to respond to reports of bias will be provided to school leadership.

Administrators will meet with the school's black student organization to create a more inclusive environment.

Superintendent Tommy Chang applauded the students for bringing the matter to the administration's attention.
