Police on Martha's Vineyard have arrested a California man on three counts of rape.

According to the Vineyard Gazette, Edgartown Police were called to Mercier Way in Katama just before 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

Officers say a 30-year-old woman reported that she had been raped at a nearby home. Police say the alleged suspect told the woman that he had a gun in the house and would kill her if she told anyone about the incident.

The investigation yielded the suspect's Facebook page where officers found a threatening post in which he allegedly threatened to kill police officers.

Adam Smith, 27, was arrested around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday. He is charged with three counts of rape, threatening to commit a crime, and intimidating a witness. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
