Remember the Giant Snow Pile in Boston? Well, It's Likely Gone for Good

Whether or not you're ready to face reality, winter is coming. And, snow preparations are already underway.

With historic snowfall this past winter, the City of Boston was forced to use 11 snow farms. And, things became messy.

A giant snow pile in South Boston left behind 40 tons of trash when it finally melted in July. This year, workers will be spreading the piles around.

Mike Dennehy, interim Public Works Commissioner for the City of Boston, tells BostInno more parcels have been secured than they had last year, including Terminal Street in Charlestown, the Franklin Park Golf Course and Reservation Road in Hyde Park.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has also approved the purchase of two massive snow loader/blowers.

The City is also contracting with more outside help this year, including W.L. French Excavation out of Billerica, Reilly Brothers Range & Fuel in Cambridge and Feeney Brother Excavation in Dorchester.
