School Cancelled in Boston Monday

School has been cancelled Monday in Boston, Mayor Marty Walsh announced Sunday.

A snow emergency will be in effect in the city beginning at 6 a.m. A parking ban will also go into effect, with the city planning to tow cars parked on major roads starting at 8 a.m.

The storm comes less than a weak after a blizzard dropped two to three feet of snow on much of New England.

"We are still in recovery mode from the recent blizzard," said Walsh in a statement. "With up to 14 inches of snow expected, please remember to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly, and always put safety first."

The city says it is prepared, with nearly 600 pieces of equipment and 20,000 tons of salt.

NECN will have more as this story develops.
