The superintendent of schools in Southbridge, Massachusetts, has spoken out following the arrest of a school employee who allegedly tried to purchase child pornography online.
Investigators say 53-year-old Scott Peeler, a middle school math teacher, attempted at least four times to purchase live webcam sex shoes involving Filipino children ages four to 14 years old. They say they found child porn on his home computer.
There is no indication that any Southbridge students are involved, according to the acting superintendent; however, school administrators would not comment when asked if federal agents searched school computers as well. They did say they are reviewing school computer policies.
School leaders say they did a criminal background check when Peeler was hired, which yielded no negative results.
