Massachusetts State Police responded to a serious crash on Interstate 93 Monday evening.
Preliminary investigation reveals that a 25-year-old man from Brockton was traveling southbound when his vehicle rear-eneded a tractor-trailer, which had slowed down due to heavy traffic. The Brockton man was transported by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital with serious injuries.
A 7-month-old female passenger was uninjured in the crash. The operator of the tractor-trailer, a 30-year-old man from Atkinson, New Hampshire, was also uninjured in the crash.
The highway was temporarily closed in both directions near Exit 40 while a medical helicopter landed to transport a patient. All lanes have since been opened back up for travel.
