Man in Critical Condition After Shooting Overnight in Methuen

A 30-year-old man was rushed to a hospital via helicopter early Friday following a shooting in Methuen, Massachusetts.

Police responded to the shooting sometime before 3 a.m. near the area of 170 Broadway, according to officials. There, they encountered the shooting victim.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition, according to Methuen police. They did not release the victim's name.

A preliminary investigation revealed the shooting was not a random act and was targeted for that location.

Broadway from Park to Brown Streets is closed and Oakland Avenue from Union to Broadway is closed, according to Methuen police. They encourage commuters to avoid the area as officials conduct their investigation.

K-9 units and officers canvassed the scene during the investigation. Officials are considering the possibility of two people being responsible for the shooting.
